RTT: 20 Weeks, Midterms Finally Over, Spring Break!

I am so happy that midterms are finally over. I can enjoy spring break now, even though I didn't do so well on my calculus midterm (only made a 75...) and then I bombed a psychology test that I wasn't ready for. The last two weeks were just PACKED with schoolwork. It's so stressful to think about, I don't even feel like recapping it for y'all.

We went to the doctor Friday and got to watch our "little acorn" grooving! I posted a video on my other blog. (If you think you can tell the gender from the video, please don't tell me! :) We want it to be a surprise!)

It's spring break! And of course, we aren't going anywhere because J has to work. And get this...my science professor assigned homework that is due tomorrow! Guess who isn't going to do it...

This is all the random I can muster right now. I need to go clean something. I'm having some kind of nesting thing...

Hope everyone has a great Random Tuesday! Don't forget to link up over at Stacy Uncorked!

 Stacy

P.S. J's conditional release paperwork has been signed and is being processed! We're going active! I'm excited and nervous all at the same time! I really dread packing. Boo!

I'm Pregnant...Now What?

In case you all haven't noticed...I've been a bit AWOL for awhile. Having morning sickness progesterone poisoning has taken a toll on me and I've been so weak (read: I didn't feel like doing anything) I haven't been up to blogging. But I'm going to try to fix that!

Since I don't want this blog to be all about my whining and pregnancy symptoms pregnancy, I've made another blog that y'all can read if you want to. I'm pretty honest and straightforward on it, so don't read it if you can't handle it! It's called I'm Pregnant...Now What?

In case y'all were wondering, we're still here in Alabama, for the time being. Jeremy had papers in to get conditional release from the ARNG, but they don't want to release him. He wants to go active duty in June when his contract is up, but I'm hoping we can wait a couple more months so I can have the baby here. Don't want to switch doctors and all, but if it comes down to the wire, I'll just tag along with him! After all, it's what we both wanted! I hope we end up somewhere awesome. :)

School is going pretty well. I am actually a little behind, so I can't stay long on here. I've only made one B so far (in Science) but the teacher is supposed to correct my grade since the points were taken off because of her mistakes, not mine.

I've been invited to join the English Honors Society at JSCC and I'm going to join. Why? Because...that's why. (just getting some practice in!) If I get anything cool out of it, I'll letcha know.

I hope everyone had a great New Year's and is enjoying 2013! I know I'm a little behind. Sorry 'bout that!

It's almost February!! Are y'all getting excited!?

Birthday Loot

I can't believe I'm 27.

So last Wednesday I turned 27 and I thought I would be alone on my b'day until Jeremy got off work. I had originally made plans with my Bestie, Jaybee, but her little boy got sick and she had to cancel.

I woke up Wednesday at the usual time that J gets up to go to work and tried several times to get him up. Finally I told him, "Fine! You're gonna be late for work!" and went back to bed. I couldn't sleep because the sun was coming up and he was snoring and hogging the bed, so I went to the sunroom to sleep on the couch. Not too long after that, J came in there to tell me happy birthday and to bother me. LOL. He told me he had taken the day off to do whatever I wanted to do, which turned into mainly doing what he needed to do. *sigh*
  We took showers and got dressed to go out for breakfast. After breakfast at Chick-fil-A. {I didn't actually eat the brownie. I got it free through a promotion unlocked through Foursquare. Free brownie with purchase of combo!}
After breakfast, we went to the nail place and I got a mani and pedi.
Sabrina and Toby checking out my toes.
After we got back to the house and let the girls out one last time, we headed to B'ham to turn in some equipment to J's unit. It took forever to get there and we were there a couple of hours while Gina tried to help J find a replacement Kevlar, 3-piece sleep system, and Gortex poncho. (Anyone have an extra lying around????) He has to turn in all of this stuff because he is going active duty! Agh! I'm so excited and I know he is too.
When we left the unit, we went to Bessemer to the Army/Naval supply store to see if they might have the items he was missing. They had the Kevlar and the sleep system but they wanted to much for the sleep system for which they had taken out one of the pieces and was selling it separately for a much higher price than what it is worth used. The Kevlar was also the wrong size and they wanted too much for it too.
When we left Bessemer, we stopped in Fultondale for some McD's which wasn't that great. We went back by the house and let the girls out again before we headed out to get something to eat for dinner. I can't remember now if we shopped anywhere between the house and eating dinner, but we might have. lol. We ate at Chili's and I'm sad to say that the food wasn't that great (except for the southwestern eggrolls, because they are never bad! Yum!) and J got pissed b/c they didn't have Jack Daniel's for the drink I ordered. I had to order instead, a Malibull *Malibu and Redbull* for which they charged us for an entire can of Redbull but only gave me about 1/3 of a can. At least it was good!
J demanded they bring us the rest of the can and they did, but he poured it out in the parking lot b/c he wasn't sure if they had done something to it since we had complained. People do that you know!

In the parking lot, J let me open my birthday present from him. I didn't know it, but we had been riding around with it in the car all day! He even wrapped it himself! I think he did a pretty good job at it too. He got me a Dr. Shcoll's vibrating/heating seat thingy, but unfortunately, it doesn't fit my chair and it is really uncomfortable to sit on for any amount of time.
When we left Chili's we went to the movie stop store and bought a bunch of movies that we have been wanting. It was really cheap and surprisingly, they have a large selection of current movies!
Then, we realized our movie was about to start and we were already running late! We went to the dollar theater just down the street and watched Ice Age 4. It was really funny and I'm glad we got there in time to see most of it! Plus, it was only $3 for the both of us!

Here is what I got from my Family for my birthday:
From Sister:
From Boo-Boo, Boog, and Boopsie/Mommy:
From Bubba:
*Vermont Bear*
From Mama:
Wax Warmer! It is so pretty, but doesn't currently have a bulb. Boo!She also got me a package of tiny vials filled with glitter and a package of pretty beads! :)
♥ Thanks Family! I love my gifts! ♥

23 October 2012

RTT: School, Birthday, Family, etc.

I should be doing my Psychology notes since I have an exam that opens tomorrow and closes Thursday, but I really need a break. I thought I might try to do a little catching up on Facebook, but no one was posting anything exciting so I'm just gonna blog. :)

  • Finally finished my math assignment today, thanks to my sister.
  • Finished history study guide and quiz. Made 100%!
  • Finished English discussion after reading two poems. (supposed to read like 10? Didn't feel like it.)
  • Saturday J dropped me off at Jo-Ann's Fabrics to do a crafting event with Jaybee and Shelby. We made Fairies (Tinkerbell). Glitter EVERYWHERE!!!

    • Sunday we went to church and afterwards ate at Cracker Barrel. I love looking around in the store while we wait for our table to be ready. Look at this cute owl I "need!"
    Light-up Owl Lamp
    • We went to church Sunday evening too, but didn't like the guest speaker as much as we like the Pastor. :/
    • Yesterday my Mom, Sister, nephew and two nieces came to see me and spend some time with me for my birthday. :) Super-sweet! They may have wrecked my living room but I love them anyway!
    • I made a Turkey breast (cooked in the crockpot), candied Yams, green beans and stuffing last night for dinner. It was so yummy! I enjoyed a leftover turkey with cranberry sauce sandwich for lunch today. Mmmm!
    • I announced yesterday to my sister and Mom that Jeremy is going active duty! Surprisingly, they both seemed to handle it well. I did not expect that, especially after the reaction Jeremy recieved from his parents--namely his Dad.
    • I am excited that J is going active. I can't wait to see where this new path God has placed before us will lead. :)
    • Went outside to walk the pups earlier today and smelled gas really strongly. I walked around to the front of the building and J's car was leaking gas. I called him and asked him what to do and he said to look under the hood and find what was leaking and somehow stop it. I did...turns out he had cut the hose and left it hanging...DUH! I just rubber-banded it to the brake fluid container so that it wasn't pulling anymore gasoline out of the tank. I'm a regular Mrs. Fix-it! Haha!
I hope everyone is having a great Tuesday! Tomorrow is my Birthday!!! WOOT! I can't believe I'm going to be 27! I will try to post Thursday with my spoils! I already have my gifts from Mom and Sister. Wait til you see what the kiddos made me. :)

RTT: Cat-Interruptus, Online Splurging, Ivy then and now...etc.

    • The most annoying sound on earth is a the sound of a cat grooming itself or a dog licking itself. Disgusting!
    • Does your cat need to be held or "loved on" often? Mine does...especially if I am sitting at my desk doing schoolwork.
    • What special allowances do you make for your pets? I put a blanket on my desk for Toby to lay on so he doesn't try to lay on my books or laptop.
    • If you have a cat, what does it most like to get into? Mine loves to get into the trash and knock it over. He's always looking for Q-tips.
    • I finally got my plant to look like it isn't dying! My Mama helped, but I have kept it alive...so that counts!
    2011                  2012
    •  Do you like to buy things online? I do. I recently purchased a book for my History 201 class online {but accidentally sent it to my Mom's address...} and a necklace from The {Posh} Daisy! Yesterday I ordered 4 books from the Bargain bin on BAM's website and they arrived this afternoon {Wednesday}! Awesome Sauce!
    • Can anyone please tell me why the pictures I add to a blog post always show up under the last picture posted, or they start at the top if they're the first photo? I always have to copy and paste my text above the photo, because it won't let me rearrange the photo by clicking and dragging. It's quite annoying!
    • I had to meet J on the base this morning at 11 so that he could pick me up at the Visitor's Center to get me through the gate. I didn't realize it, but my Military ID expired on the 11th and I was afraid they wouldn't let me on base. Anyway, they wouldn't let me fill out the information or renew my ID without J present. So ridiculous! Anywho, I got it all done and hopefully I won't have so much trouble next time!
Sorry this is late, I've been trying to catch up in my History and English classes and the teachers keep adding more work to do! Ugh! Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!
Head on over to visit Stacy who is still keeping the Randomness alive while Keely has abandoned us for all eternity! is still on sabatical... :)

    No Time for Sergeants

    Unless you're married to one!
And it just so happens, that I am!
That's right y'all, J finally has some stripes!
    I'm proud as punch!
Unfortunately I didn't get to be there since
they gave him his new rank while he is at drill
    today.
But he sent me a photo anyway.

I can't decide if he's more handsome, since
he only sent me a picture of his chest.
    He's no photographer!

I'm so proud of you SGT OAKS!

**Note: Remember the exciting news J wouldn't let me announce a few weeks
ago?? This is it by the way! LOL. We just had to wait for paperwork to go through.**

    Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In

Oh Friday, sweet Friday! Oh how I love thee! J comes home tomorrow!! I'm so excited! I went shopping for his anniversary present. I tried to find the same wallet I bought him when we got married, but they don't make it anymore. I got him one similar instead. I also got him two balloons; welcome back and a star-shaped balloon with a flag motif. I'm thinking of hanging up the "Welcome Home" flag that I forgot to use when he returned from deployment. What do y'all think??

Here are this week's questions for Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in, hosted by Wifey at Wife of a Sailor. If you want to participate, be sure to link up at her blog!

    1. Have you (spouse) ever considered joining the military and what do you think of dual military couples? submitted by Project Army Wife
No. I would never make it through basic. I couldn't stand anyone yelling at me. I cry too easily. I have a friend in the Navy who met his wife while he was stationed in Hawaii and they're NEVER together. Somehow it works for them, but I don't think I could handle it. These two weeks without J have been so boring! LOL.

    2. What is your idea of a perfect Sunday afternoon? submitted by A Few of My Favorite Things
A rainy afternoon, a good book and maybe a nap. :)
    3. What do you usually do for the 4th of July holiday? submitted by Anchor's Away
When Daddy was alive, we always had a big BBQ with the whole family and sometimes we went to the lake. And we always, always had fireworks. I don't even remember what we did last year and the year before we just had some BBQ at my sister's and fireworks. I remember J almost shooting his eye out when a cinder block blew up. Men...
Every year since Daddy died though, Mama and I have gone to Thunder on the Mountain in Birmingham. Last year, my friend Stephen met up with us with his friend and we had a blast. That was the last time I saw him. :(

    4. If they could make an Olympic event JUST for you that you know you'd medal in, what would it be? submitted by Pants are Confusing
I'm pretty good at reading. LOL. Maybe the event would be, Who Can Read the Most in One Day!? Haha
5.What have you been doing to get yourself bathing suit ready for the summer? submitted by Not Just an Army Wife
    Wearing it...
That's all folks! I can't wait for tomorrow so I can finally see my Hubby! And we can finally celebrate our 3rd anniversary. :) We're going to see the newest Transformers!! Woot! Have a great weekend y'all! And a safe 4th of July!!

    17 June 2011

    Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In

I got a little behind this week. Jeremy's sister, Miranda came up Wednesday morning. She and I went to the movies with her 5-month-old son, {H}. (He was pretty good for a baby in a movie theatre full of little kids!) We watched Monsters vs. Aliens. (Love that movie.) So anyway, my point is, I didn't get to post Wednesday because we were so busy.

    1. Underwear Parties, how old is too old? submitted by Wookie & Co.
     What is an underwear party?

    2. What was your favorite class in high school? submitted by Adventures of M-Squared
    Art, Math and English.

    3. Have you ever convinced packers/movers to pack something they aren't supposed to for a PCS? submitted by Ground Control to Major Mom
We've never PCSed or had anyone pack for us.

    4. Blogging plays a growing roll in the media. If you were asked to embed as a blogger with a deployed military unit, would you go? What do you think your blog would be like? submitted by To the Nth
If it were my husband's unit, then yes. Otherwise, no. I don't want to be in some foreign place without him. I don't know how my blog would be. I don't even know how it is now. LOL.

    5. Do you think kids should attend year-round school? submitted by Marrying the Navy
No way! (Unless they want to.) Kids need time to be kids!

    31 May 2011

RTT: I thought it was Monday...

I forgot that we had a three-day weekend! I didn't know that it was Tuesday until I saw Stacy's post on Facebook. *sigh* That's what I get for not having a job. LOL. I don't keep up with the days as well.

I'm beginning to think Keely is never coming back. This is week TEN of her hiatus. That new job must really be keeping her busy. All those pirate parties and what-not. {Not that I'm jealous or anything.} If you want to participate in RTT, be sure to link up your post here or at Stacy's blog. She's been carrying the load, since Keely's disappearance.

    • Wednesday I painted. It was fun, but it didn't turn out so great. :( I painted a smaller pic and it was really cute, so I'm going to try to duplicate it later and maybe do a giveaway??
    • Wednesday night, J and I watched Gnomio and Juliet. It was SO CUTE! I loved it. I can't wait to buy it on DVD. We ate some yummy Chinese food for dinner.
    • Did I tell you that I ran into the dishwasher and bruised my leg last Monday? Yeah... and Wednesday I dropped the sewing machine on my wrist while I was hemming the sleeves on J's work uniform. Then Thursday, I caught the oven on fire.
    • I was making that yummy banana bread again and I filled the pans too full and they overflowed into the bottom of the oven. Some of the batter got on the heating element and caught on fire. J was home, thankfully, and he helped put it out. The bread went into the trash. What a waste. :(
    • Friday I woke up a little after 7 and could barely move. My back hurt so bad! I took a shower and walked outside with Sabrina and then I sat on the couch til J got home. I was in tears. He took me to the doctor and they x-rayed my back, but didn't see anything wrong with my spine. The doctor said he could see that I had a muscle that was spazzing though. He prescribed me some muscle relaxers (that don't last very long.) and arthritis medicine. Weird...
    • Friday I watched Remember Me... who thought up that movie? It is so sad and depressing! Robert Pattinson is such a hottie.
    • Saturday our neighbors were having a yard sale with their friends so we took some of our junk down there to sell with them. We made like $7 and I spent $5 on a really cute wall hanging. I'll have to post a picture of it when we get the laptop back. (It's on its way.)
    • We got burnt at the yard sale. My chest and the back of my neck hurt so much.
    • We also went swimming Saturday, so that added to our sunburns. And we went to the mall so J could get some new swim trunks. While we were there we saw a movie.
    • Hangover 2 was AWESOME! Lots of nudity but it was hilarious. (The couple in front of us, had their little boy with them! He couldn't have been any older than 10!)
    • I also got a new phone; Motorola Atrix. I love it. It's awesome!! I keep running the battery down because I play with it so much. lol.
    • Sunday,  because my back was still killing me and we were so burnt, we stayed in most of the day. We didn't want to be in the sun because it hurt so badly. We played games on the Wii; Life, Clue and Mousetrap. Jeremy beat me at all but Mousetrap.
    • After the sun went down, we got in the pool and it felt great! Just warm enough and felt great to our burns.
    • Yesterday we went shopping for a headboard, but couldn't find one. We ended up buying an Otterbox case for my phone and a phone cover for J's phone. Didn't even find a headboard in our price range. *sigh* I guess we'll just have to keep pulling our pillows out from behind the bed.
    • We rented The Mechanic with Jason Statham. (He's in the movie, we didn't rent the movie with him. I wish he came with the movie though.) I told J that Jason is so hot. I said, "He's as hot as you are." J said, "He's as hot as me, or hotter than me." I said, "If I didn't think you were hotter than Jason Statham, I wouldn't have married you. I would have married Jason Statham." LOL. J thought it was funny, but I was serious...
    • I took time out to thank my Soldier for his service to our country in honor of Memorial Day. Did you thank a soldier yesterday? What did you do for Memorial Day?
Be sure to link up to this post with your own Random Tuesday Thoughts. :) I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend!

    17 May 2011

    RTT: What's that black stuff?

I should have done this last night instead of this morning. I am so achy and tired. *yawn*. Hopefully I won't be too cranky. Let's get this over with...
Random, it's all about random. If this is your first time to see Random Tuesday Thoughts, you should probably come back next week when I'm less grouchy. If you yourself are grouchy, then please, pull up a lawn chair and kick back with your glass of sweet-iced tea and have a chat with us. We're going to be random. We may sound crazy, but that's normal around here.
Julie, Ane, Stacy, Cass, and Raven  are going to have some randomness on their blogs today as well. So visit them, say something random and link up with your own random blog post.

It is week 8 of Keely's (The originator of RTT) hiatus due to work. If her new job wasn't so awesome and didn't pay money, I would go and stab it just to get her back... Just sayin'.

    Anywho... random, LET'S DO THIS!
    • I'm having memory problems as of late, so re-capping how last week went up til now may be difficult.
    • I think I painted something...no, that was the week before... scratch that.
    • OH yeah, remember Thursday when Blogger crashed? Well, I had posted the recipe for Quesadilla Casserole. It disappeared. And hasn't come back. It was a good post too. I may or may not rewrite it. It took awhile to type out all those ingredients. Maybe if enough people still want it...
    • Also last Thursday, our neighbors had a little get-together on the back patio. This is the result:
Yes, that is a child's bicycle next to a bag of beer cans.
    • Also Thursday, J and I went shopping at Winn-Dixie and saw some delicious cakes.
    • In case you haven't seen it, I wrote a post about it already.
    • Oh, Wednesday I made a blog for my sister. And a post about it. Have you seen It's Miller Time
    • Friday...I don't remember what we did Friday. I know J had to pack for drill that night.
    •  Also, I made pasta with meat sauce and garlic bread. I used way too much garlic salt on the bread. Apparently that's not what you're supposed to use anyway. Oops. Try not to eat anything I cook; you could die...well, only if you're a vampire. ???
    • Friday night right before bed, my stomach started feeling bad and I felt like vomiting. I ended up staying up all night because my stomach hurt worse when I was laying down. I finally went to bed around 4am. J had to get up at 5 to leave here and be at drill in B'ham by 7. I slept until 12:45 and didn't accomplish anything the rest of the day. Well, I take that back. I did load the dishwasher. Woo-hoo!
    • The Lion King is coming out of the Disney vault this fall! Woo-hoo! It's my favorite Disney movie of ALL time! I'm so excited.
    • I started reading Russell Brand's My Booky Wook: A Memoir of Sex, Drugs, and Stand-Up. I tell you what, it is really interesting. I'm trying to read it with an accent that sound somewhat like his. {I do that, you know. Read in accents in my head.} But, it's really difficult. He's pretty wacky.
    • Sunday, I went crazy. I felt a lot better and had that antsy, I-gotta-do-something feeling. So, I swept and swiffer-mopped the kitchen, cleaned up the living room and set out new coffee table decorations. Then, I rearranged the bedroom all by myself, did some laundry and took a shower. I know, I know...I'm awesome. The bedroom looks a lot better this way and J has more room on his side of the bed and amazingly, so do I. I'll take a picture and post it later.
    • I also hung the curtain rod all by myself. That involved power tools! I told y'all to start calling me Suzy Homemaker! I also baked some chocolate muffins for breakfast Sunday!
    • Sunday evening, J came home and we went out for some McD's. When we got back, we started watching True Grit {the original with John Wayne}. Then, our neighbor Janel came over and told us that the apartment manager had just called her and told her that there had been a few break-ins! Apparently, a couple of young guys had busted in a door and window of an apartment on the street over, tried to break into the house next door's shed, and tried to break into a few of the storage units! They also tried to steal a truck's muffler thingy, but only managed to pull it halfway off before someone noticed them.
    • Needless to say, I didn't sleep well at all Sunday night. I stayed up until it was almost time for J to get up. Then, I crashed. J ended up being 30 minutes late for work because he turned off his alarm at 6 and went back to sleep. He said I woke him up at 7:07 and told him to go to work. LOL. What? I need my sleep and he was hogging the bed.
    • Oh yeah, Friday night I also had to wash the kitchen rugs. Sabrina had gotten underfoot while I was cooking and I tripped over her and bumped the handle of the pan that was cooking the meat. The spoon fell out and raw meat got all over the kitchen rugs. I didn't think about the colors of the rugs and the red one bled onto the beige one. So now I have a pink rug. Ugh.
    • I think I now know why Monday is named so. It's Moan-day. I was so sore "Moan"-day after moving the bedroom around by myself, that I could hardly move.
    • I went with my neighbor, Janel to the thrift store yesterday and saw this beauty:
     Photobucket
    So ugly.
    • I had to clean out the pantry this weekend to make room for all the chips we bought Thursday. I guess we just had the chip munchies or something.
     Photobucket
Nevermind the rest of the junk please.
    • I went to get something to drink yesterday, out of the fridge. This is what I encountered:
    Photobucket
Why can he never just take the empty tea jug out?
    • I find the weirdest things at the Dollar Tree. A few weeks ago, I found Mudoku detox foot pads. You put them on the bottom of your feet and they're supposed to suck out all the toxins and metals that are in your body. I thought, what the hey, they're only a buck! Saturday night, I tried them out. You will never believe what happened. I took photos as evidence:
     Photobucket
Left foot and pad, right foot, right foot pad.
    Nasty huh?
    • I recommend if you use these things, wear socks over them. You have to wear them all night for them to work properly and I didn't want to get anything on the sheets. Good thing I wore the socks too; the inside of them were black and sticky in the morning!
    • Remember last Tuesday it was a million degrees outside? Well, this week it's cold. Seriously. The high today is only supposed to be 66°F! What the fuzzy sock happened?
    Well, I think this post is long enough. I don't think I left anything random out. Hopefully I wasn't too grouchy. If you want to link up, be sure to enter your name and the URL to your post, in Mr. Linky at the bottom of this post. :) Please come back next Tuesday for more randomness! {Or later this week... either way.}
