RTT: Cat-Interruptus, Online Splurging, Ivy then and now...etc.

  • The most annoying sound on earth is a the sound of a cat grooming itself or a dog licking itself. Disgusting!
  • Does your cat need to be held or "loved on" often? Mine does...especially if I am sitting at my desk doing schoolwork.
  • What special allowances do you make for your pets? I put a blanket on my desk for Toby to lay on so he doesn't try to lay on my books or laptop.
  • If you have a cat, what does it most like to get into? Mine loves to get into the trash and knock it over. He's always looking for Q-tips.
  • I finally got my plant to look like it isn't dying! My Mama helped, but I have kept it alive...so that counts!
2011                  2012
  •  Do you like to buy things online? I do. I recently purchased a book for my History 201 class online {but accidentally sent it to my Mom's address...} and a necklace from The {Posh} Daisy! Yesterday I ordered 4 books from the Bargain bin on BAM's website and they arrived this afternoon {Wednesday}! Awesome Sauce!
  • Can anyone please tell me why the pictures I add to a blog post always show up under the last picture posted, or they start at the top if they're the first photo? I always have to copy and paste my text above the photo, because it won't let me rearrange the photo by clicking and dragging. It's quite annoying!
  • I had to meet J on the base this morning at 11 so that he could pick me up at the Visitor's Center to get me through the gate. I didn't realize it, but my Military ID expired on the 11th and I was afraid they wouldn't let me on base. Anyway, they wouldn't let me fill out the information or renew my ID without J present. So ridiculous! Anywho, I got it all done and hopefully I won't have so much trouble next time!
Sorry this is late, I've been trying to catch up in my History and English classes and the teachers keep adding more work to do! Ugh! Hope everyone had a great Tuesday!
Head on over to visit Stacy who is still keeping the Randomness alive while Keely has abandoned us for all eternity! is still on sabatical... :)

You didn't eat your Wheaties, did you?

Finally went to get my books yesterday at the campus bookstore. The little chick running the cash register was rude to me! I asked if I could post-date a check until I received my financial aid check and she acting like she didn't even know what a post-dated check was. Then she asked if I was on "the list." First of all, I don't even know what "the list" is and how can I know if I'm on it if it's not posted where I can check it. She said, "I need something with your name on it." Um...an ID? Driver's License? Student ID? A piece of mail? I can write it on a post-it for you.. I hand her my Driver's License and she takes it to the backroom to compare to "the list." Apparently I'm awesome enough to be on this "list" and she hands me a form to fill out. As I'm filling it out, I ask her if I need to return in person to pay or will they just cash my check on the 31st if I don't show up. She said I had to return in person or they would cash my personal check... UM, duh; that's what I just asked! I told her that I planned to deposit my financial aid in my personal checking account anyway, so it will come directly from my account. She didn't say anything so I just ignored her while I finished filling out the form. I also asked if it was ok if my checks had my husband's name on it and she had to ask her manager. Her manager said that as long as it had the name of the recipient of the financial aid on it, then it would work. The chick said, "But it has someone else's name too." Good grief girl, are you related to the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz? Idiot. So I just filled out my check and dated it for the 31st. We'll see what happens.
  • Successful Writer's Handbook {English 102}- $60.81
  • World of Psychology & Study Guide {Psychology 200}- $175.20
  • Visions of America Binder 201 & 202 {US History 201}- 87.84
After the bookstore, I headed over to the Financial Aid office to make sure my check had been mailed; it had. Then Mom, Amanda and I walked over to the BDH building for our History 201 Orientation. Online, it said it was in BDH 216, so we waited in there for over 45 minutes until there were at least 10 other people in there, then some lady came to tell us that she was sorry, but the classroom had been moved to 210 and she was late putting up the sign.
There was already a sign in the front of the room saying that Wednesday's orientation had been moved to 210, so I had already walked down there to that classroom to ask if it had been moved for Thursday's orientation as well. The lady in there asked who I was looking for. I told her "David McRae" and she said "Well, I'm not David McRae. What time is it supposed to start?" I told her "12:30." She said, "Well, come back at 12:30, I won't be here." She was really rude. I didn't eat breakfast yesterday and didn't sleep so well on the crappy bed at Mom's, so I really felt like slapping that lady. Why do people have to be so rude?
I wanted to ask her why she didn't eat her Wheaties for breakfast...

RTT: Rhetorical Questions

  • I always think of really awesome random things during the week and I never think to write them down or start my RTT early. How annoying.
  • Why do the makers of baby dolls make the ones with the eyes that close when you lay them down? That is building up little girls' expectations when they're older. Real babies don't close their eyes as soon as you lay them down. Sometimes they scream...
  • Why do dogs always need to go outside right after you bring them in? My dogs are retarded.
  • Why do babies always poop in the clean diaper you just put on them?
  • J's car broke down Sunday when he got off the interstate after work... Why do things always get harder?
  • Why are some professors so difficult? The first day of school {Friday, 17 August}, my History professor didn't even have a mail area on Blackboard and still doesn't. Oh now guess what? We have a quiz on the first chapter, due Friday and I don't even have any books because Financial Aid hasn't paid me yet. What am I going to do?
  • Is it fall yet? I'm ready to decorate.
  • I'm really nervous about my Psychology class and History classes. Neither of the professors put very much information on Blackboard. Especially the History professor. And my English teacher doesn't have any assignments up. I'm already missing my English 101 teacher, even though I was ALWAYS doing an assignment in her class. {of course it was a summer semester, so it was crammed into two months.}
  • Why are all the free books for Kindle the first in a series? I hate getting interested in a series and then having to BUY the second in the series. I know...I'm a cheapskate.
  • J may be going to Colorado for a month. Needless to say...I'm pretty pissed about it. Love that he got this job, sucks that they're sending him away after only working with them for a month.
  • I really hope my check comes in the mail today or tomorrow. This is so frustrating.
  • I'm watching "I'm Having Their Baby" on Oxygen....ridiculous how people can just give away their babies...
  • I had to reduce the amount of books I thought I would be able to read this year. I had to look at it realistically and last year I was only able to read 73 and that was before I even started taking classes. This year, so far, I've read 60, so I set my goal at 75. I think that is much more reachable.
  • I'm pretty sure Reba has Kennel cough, I'm going to take her to the vet if she keeps coughing. She hasn't been doing it as much this week as she was last week. Maybe she's getting over it now.

I'm out of randomness for this week. Be sure to check in with Stacy at Stacy Uncorked for the random link-up! Hope everyone has a great week!

RTT: Eyelashes, Obedience School, Dirty Towels and so much more

It sure has been awhile since I've done a Random Tuesday Thoughts. I had to look back to see when the last time was! Last year in October, I believe. Ridiculous. Well, Stacy over at Stacy Uncorked is still keeping up with the randomness and you can still link up! Be sure to head on over and check out her daughter's awesome gummies and lots more! {I love gummies!}
  • Our new dog's breath smells like crap. Isn't that lovely? She also seems to have some kind of cold going on. She hacks like crazy and there's green snot coming out of her nose. So gross.
  • Taco Bell is the devil. I love TB, but it upsets my stomach nearly every time. Spent most of the morning on the toilet hanging out with Reba. She didn't seem to mind, even though it was only 7 am.
  •  We took Reba to her Obedience class yesterday evening. The instructor had us practice calling her and only saying her name and the command once. She did really well. Then we practiced making her pay attention to us. "LOOK", while we held a dog treat to our forehead. She did great, but we kept messing up the timing on saying "good girl.:"
  • Jeremy said the Obedience classes are more for us than for Reba. We have a lot of learning to do. LOL. Apparently we shouldn't let her on the couch, jump on us, pull on the leash, don't say her name when getting onto her or in anger. Blah, blah, blah. We're horrible dog-trainers...
  • I was sitting next to J on the couch when we were watching TV last night and I looked over at him and took a pic of his pretty eyelashes. Why do men always get the most beautiful, long, thick eyelashes? Not fair...
  • On Facebook, I'm a fan of Gain laundry detergent, cuz...well, it smells great. So I participated in their little poll "how often do you wash your towels." I answered B. If you wash your body well {and I do}, then you're clean when you get out of the shower, so why waste water washing a towel everyday that has only been used once? Seriously.
  • Reba gets on my nerves when I try to take her outside to use the bathroom, she doesn't do anything. As soon as we're back inside, she whines and whines until I take her back out. I got tired of it, so I finally just let her out on the patio and she immediately peed a river. WTH? I just washed the patio off with hot water and let her back in. Whatever.
  • I can't believe we're missing Shark Week. We don't get cable until tomorrow! I'm really glad we're finally getting it. We signed up to get Comcast or something and they said they were shipping the supplies. We waited over two weeks and when we called, they said that they don't offer service in our area. What a bunch of idiots. They could have told us that to begin with. So now we're waiting on a company I've never even heard of--Knology. We called last week, but they didn't have an available tech to come hook it up until this Wednesday. Thank God, b/c school starts Friday and I have to have high-speed Internet by then.
That's all the randomness I can conjure right now. I'll be back next week....maybe, with more randomness. Be sure to check out some of the other random bloggers who link up with Stacy! Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! :)

Meet the newest addition to the Oaks family!

No, it's not a baby...well, not a human baby anyway. lol.
Meet 'Reba'!
{Formerly known as Regina}
She is supposedly a Red Heeler mix, but I think she looks
very German Shepherd. I looked up pics of Red Heelers though, and
she does look a lot like them.
She is about 7 months old and we adopted her from the Madison
Animal Rescue Foundation, MARF, Saturday, 11 August 2012.
She is super-playful and sweet, loves to chase a ball, play with her squeaky toy
and eats like it's going out of style! LOL.
Here are a few pics I got of her with Sabrina and playing ball with Daddy!
Sabrina's first photo with her new baby sister!
Waiting [patiently] for Daddy to throw the ball.
Not so patiently.
Jumping for it...
Taking a quick break!
And not to leave out my first baby girl...
My precious Bina got a haircut Saturday and she looks so
pretty! I love our fur-babies!
Here's a pic of Toby pretending to be a lion:

10 August 2012

Where'd she go?

I'm sure you're all wondering what the heck happened to me, but I've just been so busy, there's no time to blog. Plus, I think I lost my mojo for blogging quite a while ago. Lemme catch y'all up real quick on what all has happened since I last posted!

  • As you all have probably figured out, we moved out of our apartment in Anniston and moved back in with my Mom in March.
  • Jeremy left in March for Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. He was there over 6 weeks before he came home.
  • I started college in May!!! I took Speech 107, Math 100, and English Composition I.
  • I thought college was going to be really hard and I wouldn't be able to handle it...Turns out, I was wrong. I handled it very well, if I do say so myself and even though there were times I thought I would be making a bad grade, the lowest grade I ever made was a 90 in Speech (and that was the very first speech!).
  • Jeremy was offered a job at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA after he came home in May. I was really excited that he had found a job, but was really apprehensive about moving all the way to PA, especially when we had almost no money saved up to move that far.
  • We were down to the week before J was supposed to head up to PA with our stuff (June) when he heard about a job opening at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. (I had made plans to meet him in PA after my summer semester was over, since I had to be in class for my mid-term, special occasion speech and final for math.)
  • Jeremy got the job in Huntsville a couple of days before he was supposed to leave. CRAZY!!! We were so excited!
  • I worked like mad crazy on my assignments so that I could take off Tuesday (July 10) to hunt for an apartment in the Huntsville/Madison area. Amazingly, we checked out almost a dozen different apartment complexes before we had it narrowed down to three.
  • The first apartment we really loved, wanted the down-payment for the pet deposit in-full before we could occupy the apartment. The second apartments were willing to work with our credit and they were willing to break the pet deposit up into three payments, which was awesome, so we didn't even consider the third choice in apartments anymore! :)
  • We were approved for the second apartments (in fact, I just received the letter stating we were approved--weird...) and we moved in the following week on Tuesday and Wednesday. Thanks to my awesome Mother- and Father-in-Law and spectacular Husband, the truck got loaded well before 3pm despite all the turmoil that was caused by the Penske rental company (more on that in it's own post!!) and Jeremy got to our apartment a few hours later.
  • Jeremy and I unloaded a few necessities ( I had completely forgotten to pack a change of clothes for Wednesday, so we had to dig to find the suitcases with our clothes) and the bed, which was halfway through the truck.
  • Wednesday, my amazingly awesome BFF Jaybee, helped Jeremy unload the truck while I moved the stuff from the living room to it's designated areas. Then, while Jeremy went to take the truck back, Jaybee helped me unpack stuff for the kitchen until J called to tell us that he was ready to be picked up. I couldn't find my keys, so Jaybee offered to run pick him up (in the pouring rain) while I stayed at the apartment with her two kiddos.
  • I finally got all of the stuff unpacked in less than a week! I worked my tushy off (and lost 6 lbs!) and still kept up with my school work.
  • After I was finished unpacking essentials, I had to go to the library to work on my schoolwork since we don't have internet yet. I finished all the homework I could before I left to spend a week with Mama while I finished up the semester and finals.
  • I rode down to S'ville with Jaybee and the babies, to attend Boo-Boo's 2nd birthday party!! (can't believe she's two!!)
  • Got to see one of my other BFFs, Meagan and her precious {L} at Boo's b'day party! (Super proud of her btw, for getting her Master's!)
  • Spent the week at Ma's and the day before the math final, I started getting sick. By the time we went to take the math final (Amanda and I), I was feeling super-awful and had a fever!
  • Amazingly enough, Amanda and I did really well on the final (even finished an hour before the time was up) since the Professor used the same test as the study guide!
  • Amanda and I both got 4.0 in our classes! (She took the same math and speech class as I did and I took English in addition).
  • Jeremy's job is going well and although I'm still sick, I'm enjoying the short break between semesters. :)
So, that catches y'all up on what's been going on. I'm thankful I'm still below the Mason-Dixon line and so thankful that J finally got a great job that is not temporary! Woot! Love my family and my friends and don't know where J and I would be without the awesome people in our lives!
