RTT: You had me at Pinterest

Tuesday. Yay!
Stacy is still the Random Queen until Keely decides to take the throne again. I miss her. :( But Stacy is a pretty awesome ruler, if you ask me! Check out her blog, Stacy Uncorked. Leave her a comment and link up to RTT. Go forth and be random!

  • Lately, it's gotten to where I don't want to do anything but play Farmville. I need to ween myself off of it some. I haven't played it in over a year and they have all kinds of new stuff going on!
  • Yesterday, I spent 2 hours decorating the house for Halloween! :) I'll have to post some pictures later this week. I didn't feel like busting out the camera. {That's weird, right?}
  • I just gave Tobias a bath. He's pretty mad at me, which is just what I wanted. He was driving me INSANE! He always wants to lay right under my face and I can't see the laptop/tv/book that I'm working on/ watching/ reading. So, I gave him a bath, so he can spend the next hour "drying" himself. LOL.
  • J and I watched Hellraiser last night. Really creepy. I hate the chompy guy. His name is Chatterer. I'll put a picture on here so y'all can be as sufficiently creeped out as I am:

  • Are y'all ready for Halloween? We are. We've been watching scary movies to get ourselves ready. We watched Scream 1-4, Jason X, Trick r Treat {which had no plot, what-so-ever and really annoyed us.}, Halloweentown, Hellraiser, Coraline. Actually, I watched Coraline by myself last night. J fell asleep at 7:15. I kept trying to make him go to bed, but he wouldn't. So, he slept on the couch during the whole movie. *sigh*
  • I have an addiction to Pinterest and it would appear that half of Facebook does too. LOL. I even got stuck pinning last night around one am! {from my phone, no less.}
  • Speaking of Pinterest, I saw this while I was stumbling:
  • We bought the supplies yesterday. FYI, Hobby Lobby is having a great sale on their jewelry supplies. I got the string for less than two bucks! The straight pins I bought at Wally World for around $2.67. This is gonna look so cool! :)
  • I just got stuck pinning for 30 minutes while looking for the above pin. *sigh*. Pinterest will suck you in, man!
  • And just now I got stuck stumbling. This is a cool site, check THIS out! You draw your own stickman and then it comes alive! And offers you tea and cookies. Not really, but it does become animated and you can interact with it. :P
  • Well, Tobias loves me again and is currently blocking the laptop, so I'll let the randomness end here.
Hope everyone is having a great week. Happy RTT!

Completed Owl Orders

I never imagined the owls I made
for Valentine's Day presents for my family
would be such a big hit with everyone
else! I just completed { Friday, March 18}
an order for three owls for my friend
Audrey Allison. They turned out so cute!
She has yet to give her oldest sister
her owl, therefore this post won't be published
until she has. {In case you were wondering why
the dates are wacky! LOL}
This is her older sister, Emma's:
My favorite, because of the yellow! And the
eyes really POP!
This is Audrey's:
Because her's didn't have the different colored
belly, she chose brown eyes to offset all the white
of the fabric. {The fabric is from a shirt she
provided me with! DISCOUNT if you're thinking of
ordering any owls from me! Just send me your fabric!}

And for her oldest sister, Jessica:
Lots and lots of purple! That's Jessica's favorite
color! The purple looks really great with all the
little purple flowers! :)

I am currently working on my Store Envy account, so
I can sell these cuties! What do you think? I also
have some other ideas to sell there too. How much
would you be willing to pay for these?
Leave me a comment and let me know!
Thanks!!

Winners of the Owl Valentine Giveaway

Thanks to everyone who entered my
first giveaway!
{ I wish that more people had entered.
But since I enjoy making these so much,
I may have another giveaway! }

I used Random.org to choose the two winners.
Since there were 13 comments, I entered the
Max as 13. The winner for each random
generation was in the order of the
comments. Does that make sense? lol.

The first winner, (of the pre-made owl)

The second winner, (of the custom-made owl)
is Holly!
Congratulations to both winners!
I will be contacting you later today
to arrange the delivery. :)

If anyone else would like for me to
make them an owl with the colors
of their choosing, I will be selling
them soon, hopefully. :)

{ This will probably be a little later
into March before I can do this, since
we are probably moving soon. But I will
gladly take orders now! Just email me
if you would like to buy one! }

Thanks again everyone who entered!
I hope y'all have a great weekend!

Random Tuesday Thoughts

Random Tuesday Thoughts is brought to you by Keely, The SuperMom @ The Un Mom. To participate, visit her blog and link up!

I can't believe Valentine's Day is already over. It's a good thing we have so much candy left over, huh? Yep...thought so. Excuse me while I unwrap a oddly shaped heart-shaped Reese's peanut-butter cup. Did I mention I'm looking forward to the 75% off sale on V-day candy later this week I'm dieting? Or at least thinking about it... *sigh*
           ******************************************
I had a great time with my Valentine yesterday. We slept in super-late...well, I did anyway. (I couldn't go to sleep Sunday night or last night for that matter; I'm still awake.) We ate at Sonic for our romantic on-a-budget dinner and then went shopping. I got two pairs of jeans and some socks...woo-hoo! J got a belt. I'm sure he's enthusiastic about it though. I'd ask, but he's currently sawing logs. {You didn't know he was a lumberjack?}

After shopping, we went to see what was playing at the movies. We bought our tickets for Sanctum and The Rite. Then, we went to get a drink at Buffalo Wild Wings to pass the time. It got boring really quickly when the only sport they were showing was women's basketball. {No offense, we're just not basketball people...} So we browsed the clearance section of the Christian Bookstore. {We got some really cute magnets and bookmarks for mere pennies! My favorite magnet says: "God Recycles: He made you out of dust! Gen. 2-7".} After we spent about 15 mins. in the Christian bookstore, we were burning up, (they still had their heat on and it was 65º outside!!) so we went to the theatre.

We had over an hour and a half til the first movie started, so we bought our popcorn and drink and then J played a few video games in the arcade area. Then we watched both movies and came home. We spent the next 3 hours reading. {Aren't we romantic?}
       ****************************************************
After being so excited about giving out my home-made Valentine's, I only got to give out 2! Mama really liked hers and J was kind of indifferent since he had already seen my sister's. (I had to bounce ideas off of someone, didn't I?) I plan on giving the others out today. {Sorry Joey, yours is going to be even later than planned...I promise it's going to make it to you eventually.) I can't show you what I made yet, since I haven't given Joey, my pen-pal, hers yet. Sorry!
       *****************************************************
Did I tell y'all what I made J?

I got the idea here. (And yes, I copied the same paper they used. It was pretty and I just so happened to have the same. exact. paper. Weird huh? It was my paper's destiny.) I changed the design around just a tad, since I don't have a sticker maker, {but would gladly accept one!} I used a Xyron laminating roll to adhere my little sayings to the cards on the pretty side. {The blog I got the idea from put them on the "face" of the card. I decided it was too busy.} And I searched high and low and even got J to help me look, for the rings that hold together index cards... but nowhere had them! Michael's and two Wal-marts were out of them! It's a disgrace! So I used ribbon instead. It works fine for now, but it's hard to turn the "pages".
These are just 4 of the 52 things I love about
my Hubby! I love the way they turned out!
*************************************

That's really all the randomness I have this week. I might surprise you later on by having a bit of randomness Thursday. Who knows. I hope y'all had a great weekend and a great Valentine's Day! Now, go visit Keely and let out some randomness!

Wooden Picture Frame Makeover

I was feeling a little sluggish yesterday, but had promised myself that I was going to do something with all the stuff I have been buying. So here is a short tutorial with horrible pictures.  {I need an assistant to help me take pictures. The lighting is horrible in the room I craft in and so this is what you get.}
{I got these cute XOXOs at Hobby Lobby for $2 each. Cute huh?}
Supplies I used:
1. wooden frame (from Michael's)
2. felt in any colors you like
3. red paint, white paint
4. small paint brush and sponge brush and
something to put paint in.
5. thread to match felt
6. pins to hold roses together before sewing
7. glue-gun
First I painted the frame red, using the sponge brush.
(I started the project several days in advance
before I started taking pictures. So, the paint had a lot
of time to dry.) Don't forget the sides of the frame!
Also, I painted the stand on the  back. Don't forget it
if you used the same kind of frame I did. I used a
clothespin to hold it, so I wouldn't get paint
all over my hands. {I did anyway.} You don't
have to necessarily paint the part under the
clothespin, since it will be inside the peg-hole.

After the red paint dries, mix your white
with water to make it go on more smoothly. Then,
using quick strokes, brush the white on with your
small brush, to make the frame look weathered.
{Around the edges and on the inside edge where the frame
would get the most wear.} If you mess up, you can
just cover it up with another coat of red.

While the paint is drying, you can make your
roses. Cut your felt into a strip about 6 inches long
and 1-2 inches wide. Depending on how large you want
the rose to be. Then fold your felt strip in half
lengthwise. (hotdog style!)
Start at one end and roll the felt around into a coil.
On the larger roses, you can twist the felt
periodically to make extra petals.
When you get to the end, use a pin to hold
the rose together in a few places. Then, thread
your needle with the thread that matches the
felt the best.
{I doubled my thread to make sure it didn't break
through the felt easily when tugged.}
After pushing the needle through the rose
a few times in different locations, tie off
the end of your thread and remove the pins.
Your rose is done!

After making several roses {if you plan to use more
than one.}, your paint should be dried. Using your
glue-gun, attach the roses in one corner of the frame.

Your frame is done! {Be sure to attach the dowel
in the back to help it stand up.} Stick in a picture
and add it to your Valentine's Day decorations!

{If you have any questions about this project
or anything else, feel free to email me!}

While making this frame, I had a little helper
come to visit. You might recognize her as The Princess.

Mullets: Fashionable or NOT?: Random Tuesday Thoughts

*sigh* I love Tuesdays. :) Tuesdays mean I can be as random as I want to be and no one will think I've gone off my rocker... maybe. Especially not Keely, the host of Random Tuesday Thoughts. When she's not out saving the world, you can find her at The Un Mom.

Last Tuesday I took my sister and niece and nephew
to a few doctor appointments. The Princess had to
have her 4-month check-up that she missed by a
few weeks couple of months. Turns out, she's a very
happy, healthy and smiley baby girl!
See for yourself here and here:

Wednesday I went with my Mom to Wally World
and she bought some dog food and chew sticks.
See José enjoying one here. I also bought a few craft
supplies for a project I'm working on. (Tutorial
later this week!)

Thursday I did some crafting and posted
a tutorial here. I really love how it turned
out and plan on making a few more this week,
along with my Valentine's Day cards. :)

Friday I didn't really do much of anything,
except make a Facebook Fan Page for my blog!!
(Be sure to become a fan if you follow my blog!
I'll love you forever!! And possibly make
something for you! ;))

Friday night I couldn't sleep, so I stayed up
all night entering pictures into contests on
Photobucket. You can read about my entries here. I
also watched Khloe snore for about 4 hours.

Saturday I watched the most beautiful sunrise,
blogged my Six Word Saturday and praised God
{still praising Him} because Jeremy got a job
interview!!! His interview was Sunday at noon
and it sounds really promising, because he has
a drug test this Friday!! YAY! Total Excitement!

We also went out to eat at our local Waffle House:
(I had chili...too many onions though.)

and then we went shopping; J let me buy
a LOT of scrapbooking/ crafting supplies. (Watch
for the tutorial later this week to see how I used my
supplies!) I saw these:

They were almost $3 for only two!! So I bought
some ribbon and tried to make my own...here is what
mine looks like:
Not bad if I do say so myself. (Look
for them in future projects! :)

Sunday, I slept in super-late because I felt
absolutely awful. When I did get up, I found
out J's interview had gone well. I pre-ordered pizza
and then watched The Princess so my sister
could take Boog to the park. After The Princess
fell asleep, (we left her with Mom)
J and I went to town to pick up the
pizzas and get Mom some Subway. (How annoying
are those 5-dollar-foot-long commercials?)
Then, we came back home, picked up The Princess
and headed to my sister's house to watch the game.
(I'm bummed the Steelers didn't win; there's
always next year!)

Oh yeah... when we were in town picking
up the pizzas, I noticed the temperature gauge in
my car:
It's broken again. Sometimes it works,
but most of the time it doesn't. It looks
like my car might explode at any minute!

Monday I went with Mama to Nana's. I did Nana's nails
and then we went to Wally World (where I got a few
more supplies I needed for a project for V-Day.)
Saw this lady at the checkout:
(Do people really think mullets look cool?)

On the way home, Mama stopped by Hobby Lobby
so I could check out the clearance section. I only
spent $25, but got some great deals! I plan
on crafting all day tomorrow. :)

That's pretty much my week. I can't wait to see what randomness Keely comes up with. Be sure to check out her blog at The Un Mom. Don't forget to link up and check out some other random people too! Happy Random Tuesday!

Cardboard Picture-frame Makeover

Since Valentine's Day is just around the corner,
and I had a few cardboard picture-frames lying around,
I thought I would makeover one for V-day.
(holy run-on sentence Batman!)

The supplies I used:
  • Cardboard picture frame with heart cut-out
  • scrapbook paper
  • seam-binding lace (or whatever lace you might have on hand)
  • tacky glue
  • Zots
  • Hot-glue gun
  • Scissors (duh)
  • X-Acto Knife
First, I tried to take out the insert from
the picture frame so I could see how big the inner
picture was, and the cheap thing fell apart!

(Good thing too; there's no way I could
have done it with the back on it.)

After the frame was apart, I flipped my scrapbook
paper over to the back, laid the frame front on it,
and traced around the frame and inside the heart.
Then, I cut out about 1/2-in around the trace of
the frame.
Next, I cut an 'X' from one side of the heart
to the other and cut up the inside into 1/2-in
"flaps"--to be folded into the frame.

I placed the frame on top and folded the pieces
inward and glued them down using the tacky glue.
Then, I glued the outer edges of the paper.
The next thing I did, I can't show you... LOL.
I had to hold the frame and the lace at the same time,
so I couldn't take pics.

I took my X-Acto knife and cut my
Zots (sticky circles used to adhere
pictures/paper) into smaller pieces. Then I
stuck one small piece just on the inside edge of the
heart. I overlapped the lace, using my nail
to push it into the Zot. Then I moved on about
1/4 inch and placed another Zot and overlapped
the lace the other way; creating a ruffled effect.
I continued doing this until I reached my starting point.
Then, using the hot-glue gun, I put a tiny bead in
a few places on the outside of the heart, to make
the lace lay down.
After letting the paper on the back dry some,
I super-glued around the bottom and the two sides
to attach the front to the back. (This frame
also had a piece of string attached between the front
and back, to hold the "leg-thing" up in the back. Yes
that is the technical term that I'm using...)

Here is the finished product with a picture of
"The Princess", my niece.

I hope y'all like this. :) I think it is super-cute
and can be used not only for Valentine's Day,
but all year long. Especially since I put
this sweet picture in it!
Don't you love the frame on the right too? I got
it at TJ Maxx for $4.00. I made the heart inside
out of felt, which I sewed on in a zig-zag
pattern. (It didn't turn out the way I had planned,
but that was the first time using my sewing machine.)

************************

Also, you may have noticed my glue-gun:
I'm sure all you crafters out there have heard
of  Hot Glue Gun Helpers. I would love to have one,
but since I don't have much money for
stuff like that, I had to improvise. That CD you see
is actually one of those old AOL discs everyone
used to get in the mail that offered free hours
of AOL. I knew keeping it would come in handy! :)
