Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In

Oh *sigh*...it's Friday already? I guess it is. Who am I kidding? I'm really excited it's Friday!! I have a date tonight with my lover. {Of course I mean my sweet Hubby!} I just hope the weather is nice. Anywho... I should probably be cleaning something, so lemme answer these questions real quick like...
Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-Ins are hosted by Wifey at
Wife of a Sailor. Link up at her blog and leave some love!
1.What romance movie scene reminds you of your s/o or spouse and the LOVE you share? submitted by Simply Sunshine and Daisy's
Some kind of wonderful. Most definitely. The main character, Watts (Mary Stuart Masterson) helps to set up her best friend, Keith (Eric Stoltz) with the girl of his dreams. He then realizes he's not in love with her, he loves Watts. The whole movie is really our story. LOL.
I was dating someone when I first met J and my best friend, Amy, was single, so I introduced them and they exchanged numbers. A few weeks later they dated for about a week and when Amy broke up with J for someone else, J and I started dating. And we've been together ever since. :) I didn't get any diamond earrings though...

2.If you were allowed to deploy with your husband to a war zone would you and why? submitted by I & J
Heck yes! I seriously would have gone with J when he was in Afghanistan last year, but of course that wasn't possible. I hate being apart from him, even for drill weekends, so of course I would go!

3. Have you ever done anything (intentionally, or unintentionally) to embarrass your spouse/significant other in front of his military cohorts?  submitted by Marrying the Navy
Yes, unintentionally, of course.  I posted a video (with sound only) on Facebook, of J snoring last month and he had drill that morning. The guys teased him about his snoring. Of course, he knows first hand that most of them snore too.

4. What is your most irrational fear? submitted by Eights on the Move
I still cover my ear when I sleep. It's an old habit I've had since I was really little. And I don't sleep with closet doors open. I also stuff lots of stuff under the bed so nothing can live there. I'm not so sure it's all that irrational... lol.

5. If you could only live in one kind of climate for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?  submitted by Many Waters
Interesting, I don't know. I like living in the South, but if I could choose... I'd probably choose somewhere that is mildly temperate all year round; somewher between 65°-80°F.

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In

Ahh Friday... we meet again. I almost wish it weren't Friday. But it is, and that means Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In! Thanks to Wifey @ Wife of a Sailor for hosting this awesome meme!

1.What is your favorite MilSpouse blog (not including Wife of a Sailor who we all love, or your own)? submitted by Our Crazy Life (Wifey note: whaaaat? You can’t say my blog? No fun! LOL, just kidding)
 Chantal @ A Blog A Day While You're Away

2. What are your favorite perks about your s/o being deployed (we all know there are perks)? submitted by Ramblings of a Marine Wife
This question seems really familiar. I liked being able to watch whatever I wanted and getting to read as many books as I wanted. No interruptions!

3.How long did you date your before getting engaged? Married? submitted by Utterly Chaotic
We dated for 5 months before he proposed and exactly 8 months before we were married!

4. What do you think your would do if s/he wasn’t in the military? submitted by Adventures of M-Squared
Same thing he does in the military... mechanic work.

5. If you could talk to the Secretary of (fill in your appropriate branch) what is one suggestion you would like to bring to their attention in order to improve the lives of military families?  submitted by My Life as His (Air Force) Wife
Wow...I dunno. We're ARNG, so we don't really deal with all the problems other military families deal with.

Be sure to check out Wifey's blog and link up for more Mil-Spouse Friday Fun! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

A Friday to Remember....

Even though this post has been scheduled to appear at this time...I know exactly where I am when it appears. :)

That's because what I've been keeping inside this entire past week, is about to make me burst!....

Don't you want to know what it is? I'm sure if you haven't guessed already, you're starting to get a little anxious to find out...

The moment you've all been waiting for, but not nearly as long as I have...366 days to be exact.....Well...here it is:

He's HOME! Not only is he safely in the USA, he's HOME! And in my arms, as you are reading this!

I couldn't be any happier than I am right now. Thanks so much for all of your support and prayers. Your support means so much to me!!

Now if you don't mind...I think I'll go make up for the past year...

God Bless Our Troops!

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In #6

Note: As I said before, this post is scheduled since I am...busy. :)

This is probably only the second time I've gotten the Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In done before Friday. HA! And it's all thanks to Wife of a Sailor who hosts the Friday Fill-Ins and who emailed me this week's questions a day earlier than normal so that I could participate. Without further ado:

1. What is a weird/funny superstition that you have? From A{muse}ing Mommy on a Pink Park Bench
I'm not really sure what would be considered a weird/funny superstition...I have to say though that thinking there's something watching me is probably weird.
2. What are your hopes and dreams AFTER the military? After all, we aren't in it forever! From Stetsons, Spurs and Stilettos
I haven't really thought about it much. It's still all pretty new to me, even after almost 3 years of being with my Husband. I won't think about it now, I'll think about that tomorrow. HA!
3. Since [this] month is National Apple Month (no, really!), I'd probably ask: What is your yummiest apple recipe? From NH Girl Displaced
I don't cook. So I really don't have a recipe. But one of my favorite apple recipes that my MOM makes is to core the apple, fill full of brown sugar and cinnamon. Put a pat of butter on top, place in bowl, cover with plastic wrap and microwave on high for about 6-8 minutes or until tender. It was the best after-school snack, especially in the fall. :)
4. How long have you gone, as a military spouse without talking to your husband during service? From A Navy Princess and Her Little Sailors
The longest I've gone is probably two weeks. It was horrible.
5. I occasionally watch "When I was 17..." on MTV. So, what was significant about your 17th year of life? From Ashley Amazing
I really couldn't tell you anything significant that would interest you...I got my license when I was 17 and had my first and only wreck, so far *knock on wood*. That's about it...

That's it for this week's questions. I hope everyone has an awesome Friday and an awesome weekend! Happy Labor Day and all that jazz! For more Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-Ins and to participate, head on over to wifeofasailor.com and link up!

It won't be long yeah...yeah...yeah...

..It won't be long yeah..yeah..yeah...It won't be long til I belong to you...Since you left me..I'm so alone...Now you're coming...you're coming on home...I'll be good like I know I should, You're coming home...You're coming home!...

I love that movie...Across the Universe, if you're wondering which movie I'm referring to. ;)

I finally got to hear the 2nd greatest sound in the world today! The sound of my Husband's voice being the first, of course! My Husband's ringtone!! ("Our Song"-Taylor Swift) I was so excited! I started squealing in Cato's. LOL. I'm sure the rest of the people in there were looking at me funny, but I really didn't care. This deployment is almost over!! Hallelujah! Thank you Lord, for keeping my Soldier safe!

That's all the news I have for today...Mondays are always so boring.

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In #5

Oh look! I made it! Ha. Thankfully, I didn't forget about the Mil-Spouse Fill-In this week. =) Aren't you happy? I know you love my answers....*yawn*
Anwho, here they are:

1. What secret indulgence do you act on while your spouse is away?
Hmm...I don't shave as often. Is that an indulgence? Probably not...I read a LOT more. When the Hubby is here, I don't read nearly as much, since I devote most of my time to him and the things we like to do together. Even though I'll miss reading when he gets home, I won't miss it nearly as much as I've missed him!

2. If you were a spice, what would you be?
That's a really odd question, but I think either Juniper or Lemon Balm. I just like the way they smell. :) Or watercress, it's a treatment for insanity...haha.

3. Where do you go for support while your significant other is deployed?
I usually just talk to family and friends. Especially other military wives. They know EXACTLY how I feel. Mainly, I gather courage from my Hubby. I know no matter what I'm going through, it can't be as bad as what he's going through. He makes me stronger. :)

4. What is the oldest thing you own?
I really love this question. I have a penny from 1892. I think that's the oldest thing I own...maybe not, but it's all I can think of at 1:25. lol

5. How did you [invision] your future pre-military?
When I was younger I was sure I was going to college. When my Daddy died, that went out the window. After that, I really never thought about it. I never thought my life would be as great as it is now. Sometimes, it's a good thing that our plans don't go accordingly. =)

I really enjoyed this week's questions. They were provided by Wife of a Sailor's MFF participants! To participate, head on over to wifeofasailor.com and link up. Hope everyone has a great Friday! =)

25 August 2010

I'm so excited....and I just can't hide it...

I'm about to lose control and I think I like it...

So sorry to have been AWOL for so long. To say I've been busy wouldn't entirely be untruthful. I stayed with my sister for awhile of course. Just to help her out with The Boog and Little Treasure. It was a lot of fun, but then....I got sick. I woke up on Thursday morning (12th August)and felt awful and had a temperature. So I called my Mom to come rescue me and take me home. Then Friday I went to the Doctor. They did a Strep culture, but it came back negative, so he said he thought I had Mono. That sounds simply horrifying to me...but seeing as it is viral and cannot be treated with antibiotics, there's no way I had Mono. By Saturday I was already feeling better, so I'm almost positive it was just a false negative on the Strep test. After that sickness was gone, I had some side effects from the medicine. But now, I'm feeling a lot better. :)

And whilst I was sickly, I didn't feel like fighting with my laptop to get online, so that is another reason for the lack of posts. I do apologize and hopefully soon I'll get back in the swing of things. :)

Today...I got to wash ACUs!!! First time in over a year!!!!!!!!!! I was pretty excited about dirty laundry. I know I'm weird...most people love me anyway. The Hubby mailed them to me a few weeks ago, but since I was sick, I hadn't had time to unpack them and wash them. Now that's all done though and I can look forward to bigger and better things. lol. This deployment should be over soon. Keep on praying.

Love, Whit

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In #4

I've been a little busy lately, so I'm almost late doing the Milspouse Friday Fill-In. Anywho...here it is...

1.What is something you wished you’d learned to do earlier in life?

That's a toughie. So many things. How to save money would probably be number one.
2.What is your biggest pet peeve with the military?
That it mainly consists of men, who like to change their minds like women...or can't make up their minds. Isn't that our job?

3.What tourist attraction near you have you never seen?
Six Flags? Is that an attraction? I've never been there anyway.

4.What are you avoiding doing right now?
Going to the female doctor. Who wants to go for me? UGH.
5.Wine, beer or liquor?
Everyone once in awhile I like a mixed drink, but I prefer wine.

I know this post is lacking enthusiasm...but then again, so am I.

I can't believe it's already Saturday! Thank God though. I'm so ready for August! Bring it on!!!

Every day is one day closer.

I'm sure you can probably figure out what I'm talking about. :)

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In #3

Oh I know I'm a little late. Heck, Friday is almost over...But I have been a little busy. LOL. Anywho...

1. What is your spouse's best feature?
I would definitely have to say his beautiful blue eyes! They are so unique! They're almost a clear blue. :) It's the first thing you notice about him. I mean really, see for yourself...
2. Mild, Medium or Hot sauce?
Medium or mild. I can't really handle that much hot stuff...except for the Hubby. lol.

3. What is the worst uniform you had to wear for a job?
Well..I have only worked at 5 different places, two of them were Walmarts. (the last job was a Walmart Neighborhood Market) Walmart's dress code is blue shirt and khaki pants. Neighborhood Market's was dark green shirt and khaki pants. I hated the blue the most, especially since I couldn't wear jeans.

4. You have invisible powers... Where is the first place you would go?
Hmmm....Right now I'd hop a plane to Afghanistan so I could be with J...but any other time? Probably use my powers to sneak into movies. LOL. They're so expensive now!

5. What's left on your "To-do" list for the summer?
OH wow, lots of things.
  • Spend more time with Jaybee, my best friend.
  • Go on a mini-vacation with Jaybee.
  • Go to eye-doctor.
  • Go to other doctor...the dreaded one.
  • Get a tan....ha!
  • Lose weight...that's not happening.
  • Finish 2008 in my scrapbook, so I can actually document the birth of my nephew and now my niece. And don't forget J's deployment and homecoming...I'm still in 2008. I'm not going to finish.
  • Plan what J and I will do on our vacation.
My list could probably go on and on for things I need to do, but these are things that I want and have to do before he comes home. Not to mention that the car needs an oil change and new tires...just sayin'...

These are really good questions this go-round. For more Mil-Spouse's Fill-ins head on over to Wife of a Sailor. Be sure to link up and leave a comment!

Love,

25 July 2010

i hate everything....

about deployments. Especially the fact that I don't have a new pic of Jeremy and myself to change my facebook profile pic...like everyone else. The most recent one I have is from Christmas... Jealous much Whit?...yeah...I am.

And btw..I don't hate everything, just mainly deployment.

Loving Jeremy's the best feeling Evaaah!

So I know Evaaah isn't technically a word..
but it's a spin-off of one, so I hope it counts. LOL.
I'm so happy that I have such a sweet
Hubby to miss! I hate missing him, but I
love having him to miss. I can't
wait until I don't miss him
anymore, though. Not too much longer!
YAY! I'm so excited to be with
my best friend again. It's been a long year!

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in #2

Since last week was so much fun...I decided to keep on keepin' on. :) I think I'm really gonna like this filling in stuff! Especially when I can schedule it to post at a certain time! WOOT!

 1. Besides the horizontal mambo, what do you miss most when your spouse is deployed?
Hahahaha...horizontal mambo...I really miss just having him around. Hanging out, watching TV, going places together, doing chores together and having normal (read: uninterrupted) conversations. I even miss doing his laundry. Every once in awhile, I toss in one of his old t-shirts just so I can fold it and put it up like normal...it's going to be super-soft when he comes home. ;) We actually had a conversation (read: one-hour long, static-y, garbled heart-felt contemplation) about things he is looking forward to when he gets home. Clean laundry is at the top of his list of comforts he's missed. Sure, he sends his laundry off...but he's pretty sure they're not even using soap to wash it...ew

2. What do you miss least?
Hmm..that's a toughie. I suppose I don't really miss tripping over his boots. But I'd even take that over having him "over there" right now.

3. You only get three crayons to finish your picture...which three do you choose? and why?
Interesting question. I would definitely choose yellow since it is my favorite color and it's so happy. :) Then I'd choose blue and red. I can always overlap the colors to make different combinations. ;) Ha! Is that cheating? I'm not sure what I'm drawing, but those colors would probably work for anything.

4. If you could have your own fragrance, what would it be called?
I have no clue. Right now I guess it would be a men's fragrance for women or vice-versa. I'd call it, "Wish You Were Here". LOL.

5. If the shoes make the woman, what do your shoes say about you right now?
I'm technically not wearing any, but earlier I was wearing pink flip-flops from Old Navy. I guess they say, "I'm laid-back and prefer comfort over style. And this is the only baby-pink anything that I own." :P

Be sure to head on over to Wife of a Sailor's page to link up and join in the Friday fun! ;) Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and an awesome weekend!

19 July 2010

MBM:I have an obsession....

with squirrels. I don't know why...I just do. They're so cute! And they're hilarious! My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I think since he's been in Afghanistan so long, he'll come to appreciate them when he gets home. (I'm pretty sure they don't have squirrels in A'stan....do they?)

While we were at Nana's today, I took out her old bread like I do every week and hung it on the fence for the birds and squirrels. *of course!*

And I got these super-cute pics...
At one point, there were at least 10 squirrels in the yard at one time! No bird pics though...they were too skittish when I walked onto the stoop. These little boogers are so funny. They were chasing each other across the street, chittering about stolen bread...when the fence was lined with bread yummi-ness. :P

It was a good Monday. :)

Warning: Prepare to Laugh!

and laugh a lot!
Also..these are men and sometimes they act like..well...men! LOL.
But, I know I'm in safe hands. :)

If you're not laughing, you're not living. :)

Also....I'm wondering when I'll see my Hubby in one of these. :P

Six Word Saturday

Will this stupid month never end?

Seriously...waiting for this deployment to end is
like waiting for your wedding day. I'm excited, nervous
thrilled, apprehensive....so many adjectives could be thrown
into the mix...but mainly...I'm READY RIGHT NOW!
I'm usually not this impatient...I promise.

That's my Six Word Saturday. To participate and tell the

Warning: Six Word Saturday

This is my first time to participate in Six Word Saturday, but it looks like fun, so here goes:

This deployment is driving me crazy!
(I think I'll have a breakdown.)

I don't think this really warrants an explanation...It's pretty much self-explanatory. I'm so ready for this deployment to be over. I can't even express it in more than 6 words. So I'm just gonna leave it at that...

Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I wish I were.

09 July 2010

He had a bad day again...

but he knew that I would understand...sort of.
I got a call from Jeremy a few days ago. I asked him the prerequisite, "How was your day?" and he said that it sucked. Of course. Most of his days do suck. Can you imagine? I can't.

I asked him what happened and this is how our conversation went:

Jeremy: "I was almost on my way to the hospital in Germany and then on my way home."
Me: "What?!?!? What do you mean you were almost on your way to the hospital? Are you ok?"
Jeremy: "Yeah. I almost got crushed by some storage containers."
Me: "How did that happen?" I'm having to press him to tell me what happened. It's like pulling teeth!
Jeremy: "I was taking a nap on a flat-bed after we off-loaded some aircraft from one of the planes..."
Me: "Wait, what? You were taking aircraft off of another aircraft?"
Jeremy: "Yeah...so anyways..."
Me: "I don't get it..."
Jeremy: "Get what?"
Me: "They don't just fly the helicopters over there?"
Jeremy: "No. They put them in a plane and fly them over. They don't have enough room in their tanks to hold that much fuel."
Me: "Ohhhh. Ok."
Jeremy: "So anyways, I was taking a nap in between off-loading and I was laying on a flat-bed next to the empty containers. I didn't know that there was a C-5 on the other side of the containers..."
Me: Googles C-5..."Uh-huh."
Jeremy: "So I thought it was a good place to take a nap and the next thing I know it's thrusting it's engine and the wind coming off of it pushes the containers into me and knocks me off of.."
Me: "It pushes you off?? How did it do that??"
Jeremy: "It's really powerful, it's a big-a** plane."
Me: "Oh...ok. Go on."
Jeremy: "So the containers push me off of the flat-bed and I have to roll under it to keep from getting crushed by the containers."
Me: "CRUSHED?! ARE YOU OK????!?!?!?"
Jeremy: "I'm fine."
Me: "YOU WERE ALMOST CRUSHED TO DEATH!!"
Jeremy: "Not really. I'm fine."
Me: "You just said you were almost crushed!"
Jeremy: "But even if it had hit me I would've been ok. I just had to make sure I rolled under the flat-bed instead of away from it. Then, I might've gotten hit by the containers."
Me:.................breathing deeply
Jeremy: "You still there?"
Me: "I'm here. You're sure you're ok?"
Jeremy: "Yep. I'm fine."
Me: "Only you would be excited about almost being crushed so you could come home..."
Jeremy: laughing..."Yeah. But I gotta go. I haven't eaten today. I gotta try to get something to eat before the chow hall closes."
Me: "It's really late, you haven't eaten all day?"
Jeremy: "Not really. They woke me up 3 hours before I was scheduled to work so we could have 'mandatory fun' and eat steak."
Me: "What's wrong with 'mandatory fun'? And you got a free steak!"
Jeremy: "I hate mandatory fun and I had to get up 3 hours early. I wanted to sleep. All I've had today is a Monster energy drink, then a coke, then another Monster drink and a white-chocolate Mocha. Oh, and I finished off part of a Sprite and had some water."
Me: "I don't think all those energy drinks and coffee are good for you. Especially since you haven't eaten."
Jeremy: "Yeah. So I gotta go eat something. Every time I had time to go eat, the chow hall was closed. And they closed all the restaurants except Subway and it's on the other side of the FOB."
Me: "I'm sorry, that's not fair. Well, go get something to eat then. I love you and I'll talk to you later. Be more careful!!"
Jeremy: "K. Love you too. Bye Baby."

We both hang up.

Me:....baffled....

I don't think it's very fair that he can only get something to eat at certain times of the day. Especially since he works a different shift than most of the other people on his FOB.

And now I have to worry about him getting crushed by cargo containers. Good grief. As if I don't already worry enough.

Oh, and get this..several months ago he got hurt and somehow I felt like it was my fault...

I don't get a call from Jeremy all day and then finally around midnight our time, he calls. I asked him why he didn't get to call all day and this is our conversation:

Jeremy: "Because I got hurt."
Me: "You got hurt?" breathing slowly
Jeremy: "Yeah. I was trying to call you but I ran out of minutes. So I went and bought some more and while I was trying to put the minutes into the phone...I walkedintoanaircraft......"
Me: "You did what?"
Jeremy: "Iwalkedintoanaircraft........"
Me: "I can't hear you. Do you have reception? Can you speak up?"
Jeremy: "I walked into an aircraft."
Me: "Are you ok???!?!?!? How did you do that??"
Jeremy: "Like I said, I was trying to put minutes into my phone and I wasn't looking where I was going and walked into the back of a Blackhawk..."
Me: trying not to laugh because it's really not that funny. "Are you ok?"
Jeremy: "Yeah, I had to have a few stitches, but I'm ok."
Me: "Good grief. How do you NOT see that HUGE helicopter?"
Jeremy: "I don't know. I was thinking about trying to call you...I wasn't paying attention. Same thing happened to someone else a few days ago."
Me: "Seriously?"
Jeremy: "Yeah...the blackhawk is like, right on the walkway."
Me: shaking my head...."Does the military not have any common sense? Don't answer that..."

Here's a pic of him on Skype a few days after that conversation:
  See his boo-boo? :(
I really pray he doesn't get hurt any more. Or almost hurt. Send some prayers his way please.
See? He loves me! :)
(I think this was in Ft. Sill...not sure now.)

Deployment vs. The Bed: Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

Originally I thought that it was the deployment that was giving me sleepless nights....now I'm more apt to believe it's the mattress.

I go to bed,..I'm TIRED. I haven't slept well, since...well...months ago. I assume I'll be able to drift off to sleep automatically, but... I CAN'T get comfortable!! It's driving me insane! I toss and turn and flip-flop all over the bed. I move from my pillow to Jeremy's pillow. I flip my pillows. I turn the fan so it's blowing directly on me. NOTHING WORKS!

Normally, (pre-deployment) when I change the sheets, I sleep like a coma patient. But now, even changing the sheets does nothing for me. I still can't get my brain to turn off and I can't get comfortable. hahaha

I'm tempted to throw the mattress off the front porch and just buy a new one. It's gotta be the mattress. are you sure?

I'm stronger than this deployment. right....

It's the mattress and that's what I'm telling Jeremy when he sees the bill....

I HATE YOU DEPLOYMENT!
great...now you're crying....

Stupid mattress! Mind your own business!
nah nah nah nah boo boo....

Don't forget to head on over to  The Un-Mom for more randomness! :)
