Flash Back Friday #2

Sorry this post is a little late. That new niece of mine is keeping us all a little bit busier. :)

Anywho...Here are a few Flash Backs that you may remember...

These things were so good!
I actually bought a whole box of these on Valentine's Day this year. :) YUMMY!
This used to be the only game that our computer had...can you imagine if we were still stuck with only this game? I was horrible at it.
No? Don't remember these? I actually bought two of them at the Good-will two weeks ago...they're still floatin' around.

That's all for this week. I'll try to find more and maybe even some accompanying pics from my childhood next week...we'll see.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In #3

Oh I know I'm a little late. Heck, Friday is almost over...But I have been a little busy. LOL. Anywho...

1. What is your spouse's best feature?
I would definitely have to say his beautiful blue eyes! They are so unique! They're almost a clear blue. :) It's the first thing you notice about him. I mean really, see for yourself...
2. Mild, Medium or Hot sauce?
Medium or mild. I can't really handle that much hot stuff...except for the Hubby. lol.

3. What is the worst uniform you had to wear for a job?
Well..I have only worked at 5 different places, two of them were Walmarts. (the last job was a Walmart Neighborhood Market) Walmart's dress code is blue shirt and khaki pants. Neighborhood Market's was dark green shirt and khaki pants. I hated the blue the most, especially since I couldn't wear jeans.

4. You have invisible powers... Where is the first place you would go?
Hmmm....Right now I'd hop a plane to Afghanistan so I could be with J...but any other time? Probably use my powers to sneak into movies. LOL. They're so expensive now!

5. What's left on your "To-do" list for the summer?
OH wow, lots of things.
  • Spend more time with Jaybee, my best friend.
  • Go on a mini-vacation with Jaybee.
  • Go to eye-doctor.
  • Go to other doctor...the dreaded one.
  • Get a tan....ha!
  • Lose weight...that's not happening.
  • Finish 2008 in my scrapbook, so I can actually document the birth of my nephew and now my niece. And don't forget J's deployment and homecoming...I'm still in 2008. I'm not going to finish.
  • Plan what J and I will do on our vacation.
My list could probably go on and on for things I need to do, but these are things that I want and have to do before he comes home. Not to mention that the car needs an oil change and new tires...just sayin'...

These are really good questions this go-round. For more Mil-Spouse's Fill-ins head on over to Wife of a Sailor. Be sure to link up and leave a comment!

Welcome to the World Baby Girl!

She's here! Finally! I'm so proud to say I have a new little niece! Our "little treasure" weighed in at a whopping 9.1 lbs and measured in at 19-1/2inches! She's a beauty!

Pardon my mess of a self...I didn't sleep at ALL last night. :P
I was too excited!! And now she's here!! YAY!

*Please note the Fanny Flagg reference in the title....noted? ok*

*Also note that I have chosen her name for my blog to be little treasure for now...until she has more of a personality and I can give her a proper nickname. Who knows...little treasure may be fitting!*

More pics to come later...but for a sneak peak...check out my photo blog, Capture the Moments

Wordless Wednesday

Note: Scheduled since I am at the hospital meeting my niece for the first time! :)

RTT: There's something chasing me...

At least once a day, I have that "watched" feeling. Mainly it's at night after I've turned out the light. I have that feeling like something is going to snatch me out of the bed and drag me down the hall....(probably have seen way too many scary movies). Or I'm trying to get back into the house at night and I'm just not getting the door unlocked fast enough...

Don't lie and say you've never experienced this...I've even had to become a fan of the Facebook page I stick my leg out of my covers when it's hot, but then I feel unprotected. No really...it's a Facebook page. I promise. I'm a fan. Look me up. Unfortunately the page has become a dating site.

I also think this feelings and thoughts come from an overactive imagination...because sometimes I imagine all kinds of new creatures that are coming to kill me. If you ever hear of a mountain lion/dragon/mutant-dog-from-the-movie-Resident Evil attack on a human being...you'll know that human was me. I seriously imagine stuff like that. It's not even plausible. I have GOT to stop reading or something...

This chart says a LOT:
If you don't feel this way...don't ridicule those of us who do. I'm sure it's an actual phobia. They probably even have a name for it...

"I don't eat much bread...

...I have to keep my school-girl figger." ~Nana (Mildred McConnell)

My Nana cracks me up. She won't eat biscuits with vegetables and now she's refusing the roll that comes with her meals because she's gotta keep her school-girl "figger". :P She's 87...I guess you've gotta give her her dues. She's a hoot!

Nana-April 2010

Forecast : Sweat

No Really...we're all going to sweat to death!

FYI...this was Sunday's current temperatures.

25 July 2010

i hate everything....

about deployments. Especially the fact that I don't have a new pic of Jeremy and myself to change my facebook profile pic...like everyone else. The most recent one I have is from Christmas... Jealous much Whit?...yeah...I am.

And btw..I don't hate everything, just mainly deployment.

24 July 2010

Have you Accepted Jesus?

Ok...Jeremy and I just spent over an hour looking at cabin rentals online via Skype. We booked one and then we started looking at t-shirts...He told me about this hilarious t-shirt site and we laughed forever about them! This one is my favorite:

I know it sounds bad...but it was super-funny to us. It said above the t-shirt, "Have you accepted Jesus' friend request? He's accepted yours." How awesome would it be though, if everyone thought of Jesus as a friend? And could talk to Him as a friend? If this shirt would lead more followers to Jesus and lead them to accepting Him as their savior, I would definitely pay the $25 for it.

I really hope this doesn't offend anyone.

SWS

Loving Jeremy's the best feeling Evaaah!

So I know Evaaah isn't technically a word..
but it's a spin-off of one, so I hope it counts. LOL.
I'm so happy that I have such a sweet
Hubby to miss! I hate missing him, but I
love having him to miss. I can't
wait until I don't miss him
anymore, though. Not too much longer!
YAY! I'm so excited to be with
my best friend again. It's been a long year!

things are going on in your life right now, with only

Flash-Back Friday

Saw this Tuesday, over at The Un-Mom and had a good laugh. Mom turned me onto StumbleUpon and I've been feeling nostalgic ever since. Thought I'd post a few of the nostalgia that I remembered after seeing the ones posted at I'm Remembering!.

There's Bed-Bugs:
Here we are playing it:
That's me on the left, Amanda on the right and Mom's hand.
Side note: We used the bed for a Barbie bed after we lost all the pieces. :)
Remember 3D Doritos?? I loved those things...Maybe they'll make a come-back...
I wish I had one of these--Pillow-People:
Fuzz-ball stickers...I had one until recently, when the dog decided it was good chew-toy....sad day:
I loved to read books even then...here is one of my favorites:

Why do they not still make these?!?!
And these, we called high-tops, L.A. Gear Sneakers:
Here I am wearing mine..(in first grade)..freakishly-tall kid in pink/white striped thingy with the brown ponytail...squinting because undoubtedly, it was bright that day:

The other girl in the pink/white-striped dress is still my BFF!

And of course, who could forget the "Little Barrels of Juice":
And who didn't have stick-on earrings? My ears were pierced and I still had these!
So I totally expected Mom to still have these, but she threw them out a long time ago, she says:

And all school memories wouldn't be complete without one of these fortune tellers, I was so sure I was going to marry Steven Teal:
Speaking of school...remember these lunches? They were my favorite!!! who took a pic of their lunch??:
And last, but not least, wax-bottle candy:
I totally had some of these not too long ago. They were sitting on the dashboard of Jeremy's car, he took a curve too fast and the went sliding out the window...last time I've seen them. :(

Well, that's it for my Flash-back Friday. Hope everyone has a great weekend! This was so much fun, I think I'll do this every Friday! Feel free to join in! :)

NOTE: For some reason, the pictures don't always show up. :( I'm not sure why this is happening. I do apologize.

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-in #2

Since last week was so much fun...I decided to keep on keepin' on. :) I think I'm really gonna like this filling in stuff! Especially when I can schedule it to post at a certain time! WOOT!

 1. Besides the horizontal mambo, what do you miss most when your spouse is deployed?
Hahahaha...horizontal mambo...I really miss just having him around. Hanging out, watching TV, going places together, doing chores together and having normal (read: uninterrupted) conversations. I even miss doing his laundry. Every once in awhile, I toss in one of his old t-shirts just so I can fold it and put it up like normal...it's going to be super-soft when he comes home. ;) We actually had a conversation (read: one-hour long, static-y, garbled heart-felt contemplation) about things he is looking forward to when he gets home. Clean laundry is at the top of his list of comforts he's missed. Sure, he sends his laundry off...but he's pretty sure they're not even using soap to wash it...ew

2. What do you miss least?
Hmm..that's a toughie. I suppose I don't really miss tripping over his boots. But I'd even take that over having him "over there" right now.

3. You only get three crayons to finish your picture...which three do you choose? and why?
Interesting question. I would definitely choose yellow since it is my favorite color and it's so happy. :) Then I'd choose blue and red. I can always overlap the colors to make different combinations. ;) Ha! Is that cheating? I'm not sure what I'm drawing, but those colors would probably work for anything.

4. If you could have your own fragrance, what would it be called?
I have no clue. Right now I guess it would be a men's fragrance for women or vice-versa. I'd call it, "Wish You Were Here". LOL.

5. If the shoes make the woman, what do your shoes say about you right now?
I'm technically not wearing any, but earlier I was wearing pink flip-flops from Old Navy. I guess they say, "I'm laid-back and prefer comfort over style. And this is the only baby-pink anything that I own." :P

Be sure to head on over to Wife of a Sailor's page to link up and join in the Friday fun! ;) Hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and an awesome weekend!

Aunt Bit-Bit

So...yesterday was a really exciting milestone...

The Boog said "Bit-Bit"!! Which is what he'll call me instead of Whit-Whit...since his Mom thinks he wouldn't be able to say Aunt Whit-Whit. *rolling my eyes here* And she says it's cuter. I'm just so excited he said it!! Now we have to work on getting him to say Uncle Jeremy, before Jeremy comes home.

So anyways...I think I need to join one of those anonymous groups..

Me: Hi, my name is Whitney...

Group: Hi Whitney. *clap, clap, clap*

Me:..and I have an addiction to StumbleUpon.com.

Group Sponsor: *nodding* Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Me: Well I definitely have a problem...I stayed up until 0400 (that's 4am to you civis ;) this morning, clicking the stumble button....

And the meeting would continue from there. It's seriously a problem. I blame it all on Mom, who told me about Stumbleupon.com last week. I recommend it if you're bored...but not if you're prone to acquiring addictions. :P

RTT: Huh?

It's Random Tuesday Time...here's my RTT for this Tuesday:

How did my scrapbook pages go from this:
To pages that look like this...

I hate it. But it's done. And I'm not re-doing a page
I've successfully finished! LOL. I'm never going to finish 2008.
Besides...that picture is horrible anyway...

19 July 2010

MBM:I have an obsession....

with squirrels. I don't know why...I just do. They're so cute! And they're hilarious! My husband thinks I'm crazy, but I think since he's been in Afghanistan so long, he'll come to appreciate them when he gets home. (I'm pretty sure they don't have squirrels in A'stan....do they?)

While we were at Nana's today, I took out her old bread like I do every week and hung it on the fence for the birds and squirrels. *of course!*

And I got these super-cute pics...
At one point, there were at least 10 squirrels in the yard at one time! No bird pics though...they were too skittish when I walked onto the stoop. These little boogers are so funny. They were chasing each other across the street, chittering about stolen bread...when the fence was lined with bread yummi-ness. :P

It was a good Monday. :)

Warning: Prepare to Laugh!

and laugh a lot!
Also..these are men and sometimes they act like..well...men! LOL.
But, I know I'm in safe hands. :)

If you're not laughing, you're not living. :)

Also....I'm wondering when I'll see my Hubby in one of these. :P

Six Word Saturday

Will this stupid month never end?

Seriously...waiting for this deployment to end is
like waiting for your wedding day. I'm excited, nervous
thrilled, apprehensive....so many adjectives could be thrown
into the mix...but mainly...I'm READY RIGHT NOW!
I'm usually not this impatient...I promise.

That's my Six Word Saturday. To participate and tell the

Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-In

I'm of the mind-set if "everyone else is doing it", it must be fun...so I'm jumping on the bandwagon and doing fill-ins on Fridays. I can never think of anything to blog about anyway, so this should prove helpful. You should do it too...just saying.

1. What food reminds you of your spouse?
Pizza...definitely. Jeremy could live off of pepperoni pizza. I remember eating it at least 4 times a week when we were dating and first married. It's relatively cheap and leftovers (if there are any when Jeremy gets done...)are even better the next day!

2. Who would you rather sit next to in a cross-country plane ride: an irritating non-stop talker, or a quiet stare-er?
The non-stop talker. I've only flown once (technically twice if you count switching planes on a lay-over.) so it's really nerve-racking for me. I would much rather sit next to someone who's talking so I can focus on them. I get motion-sickness, so I can't read or sleep on a plane. Please talk to me!

3. What are your best tips on how to save money?
I have found that if you pay yourself first from each paycheck, you'll be less likely to spend more. Say you get $500 every two weeks. Pay yourself $40 to spend on whatever and then divvy up the rest for bills, groceries, gas, etc. It worked for me. Also, when you see something you really want to buy, ask yourself, "Am I going to use this now? Is it something I really need, or just want?". If you hesitate, or answer no, put it back. I have been guilty of not doing this and currently have 2 shirts and a scarf I've never worn...bought just because they were cute. Don't do that! LOL.

4. What is your favorite summer memory?
As a child, I would have to say spending summer days, all day, at the lake with the whole family. I really miss my Dad in the summer because it was his favorite time of the year. He loved to barbecue, take the boat on the lake, and fish. As an adult, I would have to say the summer I was married, 2008! And last summer was great too. Jeremy and I went on our first anniversary trip to Maggie Valley,NC (the first time he'd ever been there)and we had an awesome time!

5. Do you believe in ghosts?
I tend to not believe, but a week or so ago, my TV was turning itself off and on and the remote didn't have any batteries in it. So...I don't know. I have an open mind. I suppose anything is possible.

There you have it...follow this link to read all about Mil-Spouse Friday Fill-Ins and click on Mr. Linky to join up! Have a great Friday and an awesome weekend!

Love, Whitney :)

15 July 2010

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Today my Mom and I took my sister, Amanda to her doctor appointment @ the hospital. After a regular check-up by the doctor, we headed up to the Labor/Delivery floor so she could have a stress test done. After they got her all hooked up to the monitors and we could hear the baby's heartbeat, the nurse left the room.

All three of us pulled out our books. (Amanda is reading New Moon by Stephenie Meyer, Mom is reading U is for Undertow by Sue Grafton and I'm reading As I Lay Dying  by William Faulkner--I know, I know..I'm so cultured.)

We all start reading and Mom asks me if I saw the wreath project she printed off from Kraft. I told her I saw it. Amanda says "Shhhh!". We all start giggling. Then I go back to reading my book and Mom keeps talking about the crafty thingy, so I just look at her and Amanda is making the annoyed face that we all do. So Mom finishes what she's saying and Amanda tries to start reading but I keep laughing at the faces she's making. Mom asks her why she doesn't just keep reading, and is it because she's being nosy. Amanda says no, she just can't concentrate while we're talking. So we all start reading again and then we burst out giggling. (It really is hilarious to us.)

Amanda says, "When the nurse walks in, she's going to think this is a library. We should all say 'Shhhhh' when she walks in."

So we start practicing our "Shhhh"-ing. Mom says, "I'm going to be upset with y'all if I'm the only one who does it."

Amanda says something like, "Just my luck I'll have my book down when she comes in." And sure enough, the nurse walks in and Mom says, "Shhhhhhhhhhh..........".

It was hilarious. It was all I could do to keep from bursting out laughing. Even though I was in a grumpy mood today, they put up with me...(of course there was griping involoved, Amanda is pregnant you know...)and they cracked me up!

We also discussed playing practical jokes on the nurses if we were pregnant...it included beer, narcotics and other crazy stuff I won't mention. Just beware if you're one of our nurses in the future. ;)

I'll be so much happier...

when I can make my Facebook status say:
Photobucket
Photobucket

or something to that effect...

Until then...
